Berlin 1947 - 1990 was the center of the cold war.
At the end of World War II, the city was divided into four sectors, each occupied by one of the four allied armies—U.S., Soviet, British, and French. As the East-West divide hardened into a Cold War, so, too, did the division of the city, into East and West Berlin. The year 1961 was the beginning of new era, the contraction of the Berliner wall which turned to be the icon of the division between the capitalist West and the communist East. The decision of USSR and DDR to prevent east German refugees escaping in to the west was the main reason to build the wall and keeping the East German population to serve the communist ideas of East Germany. The establishment of the Stasi so called Shield and Sword of the Communist Party took part in 1950 and it was echoing a theme of the KGB in USSR. One of its main tasks was spying on the population, mainly through a vast network of citizens turned informants, and fighting any opposition by overt and covert measures, including hidden psychological destruction of dissidents.
Our tour Deep in the EAST is an exceptional experience to visit sites and listen stories of East Berlin related to Historical Events during DDR time. My Camera will leave a lot of memories of your visit of what once use to be the most frighten and depressed places of Central Europe. One of our vehicle will take you with comfort from site to site.
